By laying the proper space, the hot temperature in the room can be minimized.
Living in a tropical country that continues to sunny throughout the year, it is difficult for us to be able to avoid the radiation emitted by the sun. But we can minimize with a variety of ways. One way is to put the correct room.
According to an architect, the sun can be used as guidelines to determine where the room should be placed. These directions affect the sunlight to be received by a room.
Solar radiation not only get into the room through windows, vents, or other openings. Radiation can also enter through other routes, such as walls and roofs. The heat that brought the sun is absorbed by both the field and then released into the room. That’s why the room whose walls are exposed to sunlight throughout the day, will feel the heat in the afternoon and evening.
Placement is important, especially in rooms whose walls are free, alias not attached to the neighbors. In addition, this placement is also important for rooms on the 2nd floor which is usually all sides intersect directly with outer space.
Southeast to Northeast
Bedrooms need morning sunshine to the room was damp. But too much light will make the room so hot. Morning sun (about 0600am – 1000am) yet contains a lot of radiation. Ray is still good for health and can also wake us in the morning. Therefore, the bedroom is best suited on the side exposed to the sun in the morning. Southeast-northeast side did not accept the heat in the afternoon, so at night we can rest comfortably.
Northwest and Southwest
Space activities, such as high-level family room, living room, and dining room have natural light in to illuminate and give the impression of warmth. But of course, the temperature should still be comfortable. We can put these spaces in the northwest or southwest. Windows and vents can be placed in the same direction, or facing the north-south direction
West
West side of arguably the most heat as it receives afternoon sun light the most high-level radiation. Humid rooms such as bathrooms can be put in place. It is also intended to overcome the problem of moisture and prevent fungal growth. For the opening, should be directed to the west or east.
Warehouses, and service spaces may also be placed on the west side of this. These spaces were rarely used, so no problem with higher temperatures. Or may also be made small garden, so that solar radiation can be “eliminated” by the existing plant.
North-South
North and south side is the side of the “cool” so that it can be used for rooms that tends to remove heat such as computer room or kitchen. This side is also suitable to put the bedroom or living room here, with the opening notes are not facing the west.
TIP
If forced to put the bedroom, living room, or family room to the west, the west wall should be made quite “heavy”. This wall can be made ??of brick with a thickness of the “more” than ordinary brick wall (e.g: by 30 cm thick). The thick walls can inhibit the process of entry of solar radiation into the building.
Material Also Influential
The selected material should not absorb too much heat. For example to use a tile roof better than using concrete or asbestos roof.
Exterior color also affect the temperature of the room. Bright colors such as white to reflect sunlight more than dark colors like brown, gray, or dark green. The more sunlight that is reflected, the less radiation that will go into the room.
